Welcome to the Exclusive Home for Professional Muses, Jesters, & Mental Cartographers!

Since the dawn of invention humans across the world have sought inspiration & understanding from every possible source. That desire is not exclusive to artists and creators. Engineers, artisans, mathematicians, teachers, trade workers and scientists have all benefited from sparks of creativity. And yet, with a world so full of innovation, even the most imaginative among us can find themselves inspirationally blocked or creatively lost. We at S. Stephon Brown Amusements offer a solution inspired by ancient history, Employ the use of a Professional Muse.
The original Muses of Greek antiquity were goddesses of art, literature and science, that gifted inspiration to mortals they found to be worthy. Throughout the ensuing creative periods of humanity, the muse took on a more practical and earth-based role. No longer were they ethereal entities to be simply dreamt of, but insightful individuals with the goals of helping other creatives. The Renaissance, the Age of Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution and even the .COM boom all utilized unique outside viewpoints to generate ideas and concepts never seen before to shape our collective pasts. We have simply updated and formalized the process.
Modern Musing is a performance & observation based medium that utilizes a very special set of skills to create an environment where inspiration & creativity can take hold. Muses are experts in interpersonal communication & interaction, both verbal and physical. They use understanding of themselves and their surroundings, to pass understanding on to their clients. Muses are meant to bring new perspectives, attitudes and approaches into the path of their clients.
S. Stephon Brown Amusements believes that real inspiration can only be achieved through truth, authenticity & understanding. This is reflected in our "Truths Based" approach to musing by employing Mental Cartography, a feels & obsessions based thought-craft developed by our founder, and Performative Communication, an improvised interactive persona approach. Using these techniques, our muses not only work to inspire new perceptions, but to also uncover the root causes of any blocks involved. Intuition, empathy, discretion and hyper-awareness are just a few of the attributes our muses tap into to hold space for creativity, imagination, and flow.

a Personalized Journey of Creative Self-Discovery
For many individuals, modern life is a non-stop combination of anxieties & expectations with very brief moments of positive understanding or true joy. This is often caused by an imbalance of driving forces within a persons life, as we split ourselves into dozens of pieces in an attempt to fit into boxes not meant for us.
Our approach to Modern Musing focuses on growth, understanding, & authenticity through honest conversations, interesting encounters, & shared activities. Unlike other coaches, Muses don't work in sterile office spaces. We prefer to interact with our clients in their environments to truly understand & assist them.
Interactions can range from online chats, to home visits, to shared vacations, with museums, concerts, or craft shows along the way. Each ongoing Musing begins with a free online consultation to discuss your needs and check our compatibility as a musing team. A clear set of goals, a fair price and flexible schedule are agreed to in advance.

1. ADAPTABILITY: Many other trainers, speakers, or personal growth professionals will present their stock "cookie-cutter" solutions and/or messaging for every situation and client. They use a universal truth to create a "skeleton key" philosophy that they can jam into any problem for a partial fix. Muses delight in unique solutions. We are creative and crafty creatures that will tailor every portion of our process to meet the needs of our clients. Every musing is unique, because every client is unique. And our abilities to adapt and improvise also give us...

3. ENTERTAINMENT: Modern Musing involves seeking understanding & clarity within ourselves and our environment... WHILE having a good time. We encourage joyful & playful activities and interactions as we work through issues together as team. The process for rediscovering joy should be a joyful process, that's why we provide the Truth with a Candy Coating, using games, stories, and well-timed silliness.

Musing is a performance art of discovering truths and recognizing patterns. This can be accomplished by manufacturing an environment of creativity and understanding through performances, events, activities, and mischief. It involves creating a quick but authentic bond between the Muse & Client and then exploring their reactions together in the "real" world to see what truths reveal themselves. Those truths are then taken by the Client to reflect/build/create upon in whichever way they seem fit.
No. There are aspects of musing that are very therapeutic, but musing is not any kind of official therapy. Musing reveals truths, which can range from the small and interesting to the amazing and life changing. In all cases of personal musing, we recommend traditional therapy (or comparable alternatives) from a trusted source to be considered as well. This may help the Client process any new truths that may be revealed.
Every session is different and personalized to the needs of the Client. But it revolves around the the Muse & Client having a shared exploration through some aspect of the Client's life. They can be playful friendly hangouts, attending dashing cultural events, having quiet conversations in secluded corners or facilitating loud acts of public bravado. The possibilities are only limited by the resources, timeline and boundaries of the Client. Which will all be discussed and agreed upon beforehand.
If someone is interested in a musing performance, we would first schedule an online consultation call between the main Client and our team. On that call we would ask questions to fully grasp the situation and understand the requirements. Once that is completed, our team will write up a proposal for what we believe will be the most beneficial type of musing which will be sent to client for approval.
Yes and no. Musing is a shared inspirational experience meant to be interesting to all. The muse must be inspired by the client/role/opportunity in order to do their job correctly. Therefor, a "face-to-face" pre-meeting will eventually be required for all personal sessions to check the chemistry of the assignment before it is accepted. We completely understand that some Client's may wish to have us vetted by their teams first. But please note that the first consultation call is complimentary and any follow up calls that are required may be subject to meeting fees.
The pricing for musing services are based upon availability and complexity using current professional acting and appearance rates as our model. We offer sessions of all sizes:
Just like other creative projects, our rates are scalable to any size or budget depending upon expenses. We also make an effort to support charitable causes whenever possible, please let us know how we can help.
Audiences are expected to cover all expenses incurred during a musing experience, whether they are previously discussed or not. These expenses may include, but are not limited to, transportation, food, beverages, fees, tickets, passes, reservations, games, toys, equipment, rentals, costuming, bail, damages, fines, legal fees and others. We do our best to keep expenses as low as possible for Clients, but please understand that unexpected costs can arise at any point.
No. Nope. Not at all. Musing involves creating a recipe of deeper connections between people to allow truths to boil to the surface. This connection can be very intimate and physical, but it is based in sensuality, not sexuality. We wish to engage the senses, not the sex drive. We do work in the kink and sex work community but we are not sex workers. Therefore, we have a strict policy of no sexual conduct while on duty between Muses & Clients.
To be blunt, you can't do shots with your therapist. Or at least, ethically you shouldn't. But a Muse is not restricted by standard ethical quandaries. Our goal is to uncover truths together with our clients. And people tend to tend to hide them all over.
Typical "therapies" try to find truths by creating emotionally sterile environments and then attacking specific problem areas with surgical precision using dedicated techniques. Musing is somewhat the opposite. Messy, magical, and unfocused, much like real life. That's why real life is required to realize all of the truths at work. Many things that can be hidden while talking in a blank office, become obvious to the trained eye when observed in a natural habitat. But being aware of a truth is just the first step.
Musing is about finding the edges of someone’s map and showing them to borders that they (and others) have put up. And when needed, pushing them just a little past where those boundaries are to see what's just around the bend. From our past work, we believe this type of experience is worth the price of admission for any audience.

S. Stephon Brown was diagnosed as neurodivergent (ADD) at a very young age. Throughout early life, he constantly struggled with traditional education techniques and communication styles because he had no system to understand or express what he was going through. That changed in 1993 when he began to study improvisation & improv therapy through a school program. Over the next decades, Stephon continued developing his unique performance and observation skills, eventually integrating storytelling work and narrative knowledge via a degree in film studies. He spent 20 years unhappily grinding in the entertainment and corporate worlds in various coordinator and manager roles that fit him like a bad costume.
The Covid Lockdown gave Stephon the time and perspective needed to reevaluate his approach to life and forage a new career path. Since then he has self-published two books on behavior theory, founded his own amusement company, and created an online muse training program. All with the goal to help other individuals who are struggling in life, but may not know why... just like he was.
Musing is a performance art used to entertain, inspire creativity and promote self reflection. It is not a replacement or substitute for any type of professional therapy. Results are not guaranteed. We reserve the right to refuse service at any time, under any and all circumstances.
